Recently, the “Domestic Production of 300-Tonne Mining Truck” project, jointly developed by Zhunneng Group and Inner Mongolia North Hauler Joint Stock Co., Ltd., successfully passed acceptance with its outstanding technological innovation and performance, marking a major transformation from reliance on foreign technology to independent innovation by China in the field of large mining trucks.

Since July 2023, the domestically produced 300-tonne mining truck has begun its industrial operation at Zhunneng Group’s Ha’erwusu open-pit coal mine. Under real working conditions, the truck endures prolonged and high-intensity operational tests thus successfully meets various stringent performance assessment criteria. With outstanding comprehensive energy-conserving capabilities, it provides a robust solution for safe operation in open-pit mining through its efficient, stable, and reliable performance, showcasing powerful operational capacity and adaptability.

During the development process, the project team prioritized the power transmission system as a core breakthrough while incorporating other components innovation, to make significant advancements in several key technological areas. The project has secured as many as 18 innovative outcomes, and successfully overcome multiple critical technical bottlenecks, realizing technological localization of the mining truck. Throughout this process, China’s proprietary mining truck standard system has gradually taken shape, filling the gap in the domestic field and laying a solid foundation for sustainable and high-quality development in the mining truck industry.

In recent years, Zhunneng Group has given full play to its advantages in technology, funding and talent, by collaborating with leading domestic enterprises to form a collaborative innovation team integrating enterprises, universities, research institutes and end-users, successfully resolving numerous technical challenges in the heavy-haul mining truck sector, boosting China’s strength in mining equipment and providing robust equipment support for the modernization of China’s mining industry.
